JOB DETAILS:

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Child and Family Study Center is seeking a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Education Teacher to join its collaborative teaching team. Early Childhood Education teachers serve as demonstration teachers in the Child and Family Study Center for a group of assigned children modeling evidence-based practices for practicum students, preservice teachers, volunteers, and observers. They provide leadership in curriculum development, instruction, and assessment. Developing an alliance with families and community is essential. Working cooperatively with center director, staff, and university community they ensure a model center; to include accreditation, licensing, and other regulatory requirements. Classroom teachers engage in continuous professional development and assist in promotion of public relations for the center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field and Wisconsin Registry Level 14
• Related work experience required
• A valid Professional Educator DPI License in 3 years from date of employment (Birth-3)
• Must successfully complete a caregiver background check prior to employment
• Ability to climb stairs
• Ability to lift children and heavy items up to fifty pounds (50lbs.)
• Ability to maneuver in spaces as narrow as one foot (1’) in sufficient time to assure safety and well-being of children within licensing and NAEYC regulations
• Interest in advancing student learning in the area of Early Childhood Education
• Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholders

Preferred
• A valid Professional Educator DPI License (Birth-3)
• Master’s degree
• First aid/CPR (Infant, Child, and Adult) prior to employment
• Shaken Baby and SIDS training prior to employment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and facilitates classroom programming and schedules daily classroom activities for an early childhood education facility according to established curriculums. Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom. Evaluates individualized and developmental educational plans for children in collaboration with other stakeholders, as needed. Maintains and documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations. Mentors’ new teachers and students.

Ability to perform physical activities, such as walking, bending, working at ground level, standing, climbing, lifting children or heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) Ability to respond with quick maneuvering between spaces is required to assure safety and well-being of children, while providing care within licensing and NAEYC regulations.

Stays current with accreditation requirements and maintains a commitment to professional enrichment and learning in the early childhood education field.
